Michigan State Police Seize 12 Lbs. Of Pot Headed For Cleveland
DETROIT (WWJ) - Michigan State Police police earlier this week seized approximately 12 pounds of marijuana investigators say was headed for Cleveland.
The bust was made at around 7 p.m. Tuesday. Police say officers with the Special Enforcement Section HST stopped a vehicle on southbound I-75 near Rockwood for following too closely.
The driver, who had a suspended driver's license, was taken into custody. The vehicle was towed and when it was searched troopers found the large quantity of pot in the trunk, contained in vacuumed sealed bags.
The driver, whose name was not immediately released, is now facing a possession with intent to distribute marijuana charge along with the charge for driving on a suspended license. Police said the case has been sent to the Wayne County Prosecutor for review.
Police said the marijuana had originated in Detroit and was on its way to Cleveland, Ohio before the traffic stop.
