Michigan Offensive Coordinator Pleased With Progress Of Quarterbacks

With the start of Michigan football just two weeks away, offensive coordinator Al Borges is apparently quite happy with how starting quarterback Devin Gardner has progressed.
According to the University of Michigan football Twitter account, Borges told reporters that Gardner has a better understanding now of the structure and timing of routes and that he will have more freedom at the line of scrimmage this season. Borges added that Gardner has the most athleticism of any passer he has ever coached.
Gardner played in 13 games in 2012 but began the season as a wide receiver. When starting quarterback Denard Robinson went down with an injury, however, Gardner took his place and connected on 75 of 126 passes for 1,219 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions over the last five games of the season.
Shane Morris also drew praise from Borges, who said he is doing a real nice job and showing tremendous promise. A 6-foot-3, 200-pound freshman from Warren, Mich. As a junior in high school, Morris passed for over 1,500 yards. His performance was also solid his senior year, but he lost most of that season to mono.
The Wolverines begin the season Aug. 31 at home against Central Michigan.
