Michigan Not The Only Mitten On The Map?
MADISON, Wis. (WWJ) -- Is Wisconsin taking a page out of the Pure Michigan playbook?
The Badger State's Tourism Department has a new winter ad campaign featuring Wisconsin-- in the form of a mitten. Spokeswoman Lisa Marshall says they want to show people that Wisconsin is a place for winter fun, too.
"People are having a lot of fun with this," said Marshall. "We have a very friendly relationship with our colleagues at Pure Michigan and they're having some fun with it too-- claiming we have 'Mitten-Envy'."
For fall, they made a maple leaf shaped like Wisconsin, and other seasonal ideas in the works.
"For the most part, travelers that talk to us on our social media sites like it, but I'm sure people in Michigan might have a different thought about it," said Marshall.
Marshall said the Wisconsin Tourism Department works with Michigan year-round to promote the Great Lakes region.
