Michigan Medical Main Street To Exhibit At Biomed Device Show
Oakland County Michigan's Medical Main Street will gain national and international exposure as it sells Oakland County as a medical device manufacturing center and a life science destination at the BiomeDevice Show in Boston on Wednesday and Thursday.
Medical Main Street will join the Michigan Economic Development Corp. at the two-day event, April 6-7, at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, 415 Summer St, in Boston.
Senior Business Development Representative Irene Spanos will represent Medical Main Street, promoting our new Michigan Medical Device Manufacturing Directory that touts the medical device companies already operating in Oakland County.
Oakland County and the state of Michigan will also host three events:
* Venture Capital Luncheon set for noon on April 6 at Legal Sea Foods, Cambridge – Kendal Square 5 Cambridge Center, Cambridge
* Site Selector Luncheon set for noon on April 7 at Anthem, 101 S. Market St. (Faneuil Hall) in Boston
* MichAgain – Alumni Reception set for noon at MJ O'Connor's at the Westin, 425 Summer St, Boston
In three years, 15 companies have settled on Medical Main Street, investing more than $61 million. The initiative was created in 2008 by County Executive L. Brooks Patterson to focus on growing the life science industry in Oakland County and Southeast Michigan.
The county's burgeoning life science industry includes 93,000 health care and life science jobs and more than 4,300 life science and medical facilities. The county is projected to add 45,000 health care and life science jobs in the next 10 years. There are nearly 4,900 active clinical trials throughout Oakland County and the state – more than California, Florida, Texas or New Jersey.
In addition to company attraction, Medical Main Street helps entrepreneurs commercialize their life sciences technologies, assists local life sciences companies grow their markets globally, trains the work force for this industry and works with state government to ensure Michigan is legislatively a top state for life sciences companies.
Oakland County, Michigan's Medical Main Street is a unique alliance of hospitals, universities, medical device, biopharma companies and some of the country's top medical professionals creating a global center of innovation in health care, research and development, education and commercialization in the life sciences industry.
Medical Main Street has assembled a board of industry leaders to provide advice and support to this initiative. The board includes: William Beaumont Hospitals, Ferndale Laboratories, Henry Ford Health Systems, Housey Pharmaceuticals, Beckman Coulter Molecular Diagnostics, McLaren Health Care Corp., MichBio, Oakland University, Providence Park Hospital, Rockwell Medical Technologies, St. Joseph's /Trinity Health, Oakland Community College and Crittenton Hospital.
