'Michigan Matters' Exclusive: Bush, Fiorina, Cruz, Kasich, Rand Hit Mackinac Island To Make Their Case

MACKINAC ISLAND (CBS Detroit) – Ohio Gov. John Kasich said that Michigan and the Buckeye state are essentially one state and that if successful in his bid for president he would keep their interests at heart.

Kasich was one of five GOP presidential candidates who appear on "Michigan Matters" to talk up their campaigns. Presidential politics was front and center during the Michigan Republican 31st Biennial Leadership Conference at Mackinac Island where over 2,200 people from business and politics gathered and served as backdrop for the show.

The conversation also focused on state and local politics and the "Michigan Matters" team of Senior Producer/Host Carol Cain and Chief Videographer Paul Pytlowany were there to capture it for viewers.

The show includes exclusive conversations and appearances by former Gov. Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, Sen. Ted Cruz and Rand Paul.

Cruz talked how his conservative policies would help Michiganders and the country.

Fiorina discussed her rise in the polls after the second presidential debate where she dazzled with her knowledge of foreign affairs and putting fellow GOP candidate Donald Trump in his place for his outlandish comments.
