Michigan Man Fatallly Shot By State Police
Michigan State Police say a state trooper fatally shot a gun-toting southern Michigan man after the man threatened to kill others.
Police said 40-year-old Anthony William Thompson of Delton died at the scene following the 6 a.m. shooting Wednesday at the Guernsey Lake Mobile Home Community in Barry County's Hope Township, about 20 miles north-northeast of Kalamazoo.
Detective 1st Lt. Chuck Christensen told the Kalamazoo Gazette that a 16-year state police veteran assigned to the Hastings post and two Barry County sheriff's deputies went to Thompson's home on a report of a domestic assault and a suicidal man armed with a shotgun.
He said Thompson ignored several demands to drop the weapon.
The unidentifiedtrooper has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation
