Michigan Football Players Should Be Nervous, Rodriguez Says
Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez said if players aren't nervous for Saturday's season opener against Connecticut, then he'll be concerned, even when playing so many young players. The depth chart released this morning had at least 17 freshmen or redshirt freshmen listed, plus both specialist spots.
"I'd rather have the element of experience than the element of surprise," Rodriguez said at his weekly news conference. "It's exciting, too. It's probably exciting for the players.... I know eventually what we'll have. But in the first game or two, with all the nerves and all that kind of stuff…."
Those nerves may manifest early for equipment manager Jon Falk, who recently wrote a book of stories about the program.
