Michigan Firms Partner For Web Site For Henry Ford's 150th Birthday
SOUTHFIELD -- The father of American mass production's 150th birthday is this year, and two Michigan companies have teamed up to create a Web site to celebrate it.
Driven Solutions Inc. of Ferndale and Biznet Internet Solutions of Southfield have put up www.henryford150.com.
The two companies worked hand in hand with Motorcities.org and the Motor Cities National Heritage Area, and produced a Web site dedicated to preserving the cultural and historical landscape associated with Michigan's automotive and labor heritage.
The site's distinguishing feature is the interactive timeline; it's filled with events from major points in Henry Ford's life, from his father's arrival in America to Henry Ford being named Businessman of the Century.
The Web site also covers important subjects that revolve around the labor heritage in the automotive industry, from the creation of the assembly line to the Henry Ford Health System.
The site design and layout were meant to show the diverse range of activities and events that occurred around or involved Henry Ford during his lifetime and how it not only affected the Detroit area, but also the rest of the world in terms of labor and the efficiencies of the assembly line and automotive industries.
Also included in the site is a calendar of current and upcoming events and presentations that feature Henry Ford, his family, inventions and various industries and people that he came into contact with, and how his inventions and relationships helped to change the future. The site is also aimed at helping visitors to engage, donate, and become involved with the various organizations that are part of the area's movement to save automotive history and historic sites in the Detroit area.
