Michigan Ag Industry Members Bullish On Outlook
EAST LANSING (AP) - Michigan's farmers and agriculture leaders are bullish about their business outlook.
A new survey from Michigan State University released Tuesday shows ag and food businesses have a rosier outlook of their own industry than they do of the state's overall economy.
Economist Bill Knudson with the MSU Product Center says while the ratings are relatively positive, several respondents are concerned about immigration changes and the federal health care law.
The first Michigan Ag and Food Index was released during the state's largest general farm show in East Lansing. Establishing the recurring survey is one response to Gov. Rick Snyder's agriculture summit in 2011.
Michigan State University officials are planning to use the survey to set make sure the school is in line with the needs of the industry.
