Mich. Unadjusted Jobless Rates Fell In Sept.

The state says the seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate has dropped 0.6 percentage points in Michigan and is down in 15 of the state's 17 major regional labor markets.

The Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth released a report Thursday for September. It says statewide joblessness stood at 12.3 percent, down from 12.9 percent in August.

It says regional rates ranged from a low of 8.4 percent in the Ann Arbor region to 13.7 percent in the Flint area.

The state's seasonally adjusted jobless rate for September announced earlier was 13 percent, compared with 13.1 percent in August.

A monthly survey of employers indicates that seasonally unadjusted payroll jobs in Michigan rose by 36,000 in September to 3.87 million.
