Mich. Man Accused Of Leaving Dogs In Hot Van
The Washington Humane Society says a Michigan man has been arrested for leaving two dogs in a hot van for hours while he visited a museum. One dog died.
The group said D.C. police arrested Kenneth Reiff of Clinton Township, on Monday and charged him with two counts of animal cruelty. Humane society spokeswoman Sabrina Fang said a street vendor noticed the dogs inside the van in the 1300 block of Independence Avenue and called authorities.
Officials said Reiff's Chihuahua died after being kept in a plastic bin. The second dog was treated for heat stress.
The humane society said Reiff and his daughter were touring the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Child protective services took custody of the girl.
The humane society said its law enforcement department and police are working together on the case.
