Mich. Jobless Rate Edges Down To 13 Percent
Michigan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged down to 13 percent in September, the lowest rate since March 2009. The state announced the latest jobless statistics Wednesday.
Michigan's unemployment rate was 13.1 percent in August, second-highest in the nation behind Nevada. Michigan's jobless rate has been generally declining through 2010.
The state's unemployment rate a year ago was 14.4 percent. The national jobless rate in September was 9.6 percent. That's unchanged from August.
Not all of Michigan's employment trends were encouraging last month. The number of seasonally adjusted payroll jobs dropped slightly in September.
