Mich. Health Records Data Exchange System Unveiled
LANSING (AP) - The thousands of health care providers that work with Grand Rapids-based Michigan Health Connect are now able to send child and adult immunization records directly to the state's Michigan Care Improvement Registry.
The new system was announced Wednesday.
It's designed to securely connect MHC's 54 hospitals, 961 medical offices and more than 3,500 individual providers to Michigan's health records registries. The idea is to facilitate more timely and accurate submission of the required data.
MHC uses the Michigan Health Information Network to route the data, allowing real-time electronic reporting of immunizations as they're administered.
Michigan Department of Community Health Director Olga Dazzo says the system will allow the state "to see trends in public health with more extensive data than before."
