MI Fest To Debut In September
DETROIT (WWJ) - TGIF Entertainment Group announced Wednesday the debut of MI Fest for Saturday, September 17 at Michigan Internation Speedway (MIS) in Brooklyn, Michigan. MI Fest is an outdoor music festival featuring the best of Michigan's food, industry, art and music.
MI Fest promises to offer a multisensory experience encompassing supreme musical talent, Michigan's most outstanding foods, an on- site farmer's market and local artisans.
The Michigan-centric festival, nestled within the Irish Hills of southeastern Michigan, will host national touring acts, along with Michigan-based artists. Music will cross all genres, from Indie Bands, College Radio to Classic Rock, with nothing off limits.
If you are looking for an extended festival experience, you are in luck as MIS is the largest registered campground in the State of Michigan. Both rustic and electric sites with brand new amenities will be offered.
George Gikas, president of TGIF Entertainment Group, said that Michigan's influence on the music industry made the festival an easy fit for the state.
"Michigan has produced some of the best music in the world and we need to take great pride in leveraging that asset. Aside from being the Motor City, the next thing everyone associates with Michigan is our great music from Motown to Madonna, Bob Seger to Kid Rock and Eminem," Gikas said in a release.
MI Fest surpasses the traditional music fest with a strong focus on Michigan's arts, harvest, industry, and locally produced foods and beverages, all of which will have a strong presence at the festival.
"MI Fest is intended to showcase Michigan, put people to work and drive tourism in the state," Gikas added.
Roger Curtis, president of Michigan International Speedway, said the venue is excited to host "the charm and spirit of Southeastern Michigan" during the festival.
"Being the host venue for MI Fest puts Michigan International Speedway in a unique leadership role that allows us to thrive and grow as a business, while attracting tourism to our area outside of our NASCAR events," Curtis said in a release.
MI Fest tickets will go on sale and a full artist lineup will be announced in late Spring 2011. For more information or for corporate partnership or vendor opportunities, visit MI-Fest.com.
