Oak Park Teen Dies In Tubing Accident
MERRILL TWP. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities in West Michigan have identified an Oak Park teen as the victim of a tubing accident on a Newaygo County lake.
The Sheriff's Department said it found Joshua Mullens, 18, Tuesday evening after he fell off an inner tube that was being pulled by a personal watercraft on Woodland Lake in Merrill Township. The young man had a life preserver on, but police believe it came off when he fell.
An underwater search found Mullens' body at about 6 p.m. Medical personnel attempted to resuscitate him but were unable to revive him.
Police said Mullens died at the scene about 50 miles north of Grand Rapids.
