Military Members: Get Money Saving Veterans Day Deals
DETROIT (WWJ) - November 11 marks the day when Americans everywhere honor and pay tribute to those military members who serve and have served the country.
As a small token of their appreciation, several restaurants, stores and entertainment venues are offering deals for service members on Veterans Day, such as free meals, discounts on merchandise and complimentary admissions.
Before heading out to take advantage of these deals, just make sure you have proof of military service, such as a Military ID card, Veteran's Affair card, discharge papers or other form of identification. Many establishments require proof of service before discounting their services. It's also a good idea to call ahead and verify a location's participation.
Restaurants
Applebee's restaurants are offering veterans free meals on Friday. The Veterans Day menu will include some a seven oz. house sirloin, bacon cheeseburger, three cheese chicken penne, chicken tenders platter, oriental chicken salad, fiesta lime chicken and double crunch shrimp.
Texas Roadhouse restaurants are offering veterans a free lunch from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday. The Veterans Day menu will include a six oz. sirloin steak, country fried chicken or sirloin, pulled pork dinner, cheeseburger, BBQ chicken sandwich, grilled chicken salad or chicken critter salad.
Chili's restaurants are offering veterans free meals from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday. The Veterans Day menu includes any lunch combo, margarita chicken tacos, Santa Fe chicken wrap, cheeseburger, margarita grilled chicken, chicken crispers and cobb salad.
T.G.I. Friday's restaurants are offering veterans a buy one entrée get one entrée free on Friday. Veterans can choose from a variety of meals such as bruschetta chicken pasta, dragonfire chicken, flat iron black angus steak, Kansas City bbq burger, Jack Daniel's chicken sandwich and more.
Olive Garden restaurants are offering veterans a free meal on Friday. The Veterans Day menu includes seafood alfredo, chicken parmigiana, braised beef and tortellini, cheese ravioli and spaghetti with meatballs. Each meal comes with soup or salad and freshly baked garlic bread sticks.
Famous Dave's restaurants are offering veterans a free "two meat salute" on Friday. Veterans can choose two different meats, which are served with corn bread muffin, corn-on-the-cob and your choice of one side.
Brann's Sizzling Steaks and Sports Grille restaurants will be offering veterans a free six oz. sizzling sirloin with your choice of two sides beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Ponderosa Steakhouse restaurants in are offering veterans a free buffet meal beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday.
Outback Steakhouse restaurants are offering veterans a free bloomin' onion and Coca Cola beverage on Friday.
Hooters restaurants are offering veterans 10 free wings, boneless or traditional, on Friday. Veterans do however have to purchase a drink to get the deal.
Little Caesars Pizza restaurants are offering veterans a free order of crazy bread on Friday.
Select Subway restaurants are offering veterans a free six-inch sub on Friday.
Tim Hortons and Krispy Kreme restaurants are offering veterans a free donut on Friday.
7-11 stores are offering veterans a free small Slurpee from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday.

Detroit Zoo is offering free admission to the zoo on Friday. Additional fees may apply for select attractions within the zoo.
The Henry Ford is offering free admission to Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village and the Ford Rouge Factory Tour on Friday. Free admission does not include rides in Greenfield Village or IMAX movies.
Huron-Clinton Metroparks is waiving vehicle entry fees and boat launch fees at all of their Metroparks locations on Friday.
Palace Sports & Entertainment is offering a "Seats For Soldiers" free ticket offer for veterans and their families for designated events. Veterans can get free tickets (while supplies last) to see Guns N' Roses on Dec. 1, University of Michigan vs. Oakland University Men's College Basketball on Dec. 10, or the Harlem Globetrotters on Dec. 26.
