Men Charged In Gas Clerk's Murder Face Arraignment
HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - Two men accused of robbing and murdering a Highland Park gas station clerk are due in court today.
The suspects - 27-year-old Norman Witherspoon of Madison Heights and 33-year-old Matthew Evans of Highland Park - appear in 30th District Court on Monday morning for arraignment before Judge Bridgette Officer.
The men stand accused of murder, armed robbery and torture in the shooting death of gas station attendant Hassan Hussein. Police believe Evans shot the 59-year-old man several times after he refused to open the safe. Video surveillance tape and tips from the public led police to the suspects.
