Men Arrested In Troy With Over 100 iPhones
TROY (WWJ) - Two Detroit men were arrested in Troy after allegedly stealing more than 100 iPhones from a cell phone repair shop.
Clarence Boger, 28, and Brandon Dean, 27, were arraigned earlier this week in 52-4 District Court on charges of breaking and entering. Bond was set at $20,000 for Dean and $5,000 for Boger. Both men are due back in court on March 25.
Police say they were dispatched to the area of Chicago and Maple, near I-75, around 4 a.m. Sunday after a concerned citizen reported two suspicious men who had parked a vehicle and walked south from that location carrying duffel bags.
While officers were locating the suspicious vehicle, a third officer located two individuals walking north on Chicago. Police say when the men saw the officer, they dropped their bags and ran in opposite directions.
Two more Troy officers who saw one of the men running through a field positioned themselves behind a dumpster and took him into custody without incident when he approached their location.
A Royal Oak police officer arrived on the scene with a K9 unit and after a short track, the second male was taken into custody without incident.
Police recovered the bags the men had dropped and said they contained over 100 iPhones.
Officers then followed footprints the men previously left in the snow to Partners in Progress, a cell phone repair business. A window had been broken to gain entry into the business. It's believed the iPhones were taken from the business.
