Men Arrested After Alleged Drug Deal At Vacant Grocery Store
INDEPENDENCE TWP. (WWJ) - Police in Oakland County say two men were arrested after officers witnessed a drug deal taking place in the parking lot of a vacant grocery store.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said 24-year-old Samuel Mcarthur, of Springfield Township, and 23-year-old Cameron Kristen, of Independence Township, are facing a variety of drug charges after their arrests last Friday.
The sheriff's office says their Narcotics Enforcement Team was requested to assist deputies in front of a vacant grocery store at White Lake Road and Dixie Highway in Independence Township after officers observed two men conducting a "hand to hand delivery of cocaine." Police made contact with the men and searched their vehicles.
Police say Mcarthur was in possession of one gram of cocaine, three grams of marijuana and $360.00; while Kristen was in possession of three grams of cocaine, $40 and a half-empty bottle of Captain Morgan rum.
The suspects' vehicles, a 2007 Ford Focus and a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt, were forfeited as part of the arrests.
Mcarthur is charged with possession of cocaine under 25 grams, a four-year felony, and possession of marijuana, a one-year misdemeanor.
Kristen is charged with delivery/manufacture cocaine under 25 grams, a four-year felony.
Both men are due back at 52-2 District Court on Nov. 1.
