Memorial Fund Established For Livonia Woman Who Was Shot To Death
LIVONIA (WWJ) - A memorial fund has been set up for a 35-year-old Livonia woman who was shot several times while sitting in her vehicle in the driveway her home.
Police say 46-year-old Benjamin Yee shot and killed his ex-wife, Courtney Johnson, whose car was parked at Yee's home on Gillman Street in Livonia around 3 p.m. Dec. 4.
Investigators say Johnson was shot multiple times and there were several witnesses, including the couple's 11-year-old daughter.
After the shooting, Johnson reportedly called 911 and confessed to the shooting. Johnson also told police where they could find the gun he used.
Yee was arrested shortly after police arrived at the home on a report of shots fired. When police arrived at the home, they recovered a 9mm semi-auto pistol.
Donations in Johnson's name can be made in person at any Huntington National Bank or can mailed to:

Checks can be made payable to "Courtney Johnson Memorial Fund."
Yee was arraigned on charges of first degree murder, felony firearms and felonious assault. He remains in custody at the Wayne County Jail and is due back in court on December 14. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
