Medical Marijuana Supporters Rally

[photogallerylink id=26058 align=left]Carrying American flags and signs, users and supporters of medical marijuana gathered outside the Oakland County Courthouse Wednesday in Pontiac, to protest the arrest of several people in clinic raids.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Pat Sweeting spoke with Charles Ream, of Michigan NORML, who referred to the recent arrests as domestic terrorism.

"We think people that go around and bust into people's houses and take their stuff....are domestic terrorists," Ream said.

Several dozen supporters of medical marijuana rallied at the County Complex on Telegraph Road. Many were chanting, "stop arresting patients" and carrying signs, some of which read, "Why do people have to die so we can obtain our legal medicine?"

One of the ralliers, Nick Agro said  a recent raid on his home contributed to his father's death.

"He passed away on Thursday morning, while we were on our way to court...His home, my parent's home, was raided and ransacked by the Oakland County Gestapo," he said.

Agro is involved in a medical marijuana dispensary in Ferndale. It was one of the facilities that was raided early last week. His father used medical marijuana to relieve the pain of an injury he received on the job.
