Medical Marijuana Facility Partners With Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Rapper
OTISVILLE (WWJ/AP) - A Michigan medical marijuana facility is partnering with a member of the Grammy-winning rap group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to cultivate and distribute a new strain of medical marijuana.
The Green Oasis, a small medical marijuana operation in Otisville, and Stanley "Flesh-N-Bone" Howse have agreed to work together on "Phifty Caliber Kush," which they say has a noticeable floral taste and is an effective pain reliever.
The Flint-area dispensary's owner, Anthony Butler, calls the new pot strain "the best of the best." The partnership will allow Butler to cultivate and distribute marijuana and seeds from the new strain.
In addition to distributing Phifty Caliber Kush, Butler said The Green Oasis could begin selling merchandise and possibly host a visit from Howse.
"It's almost unreal," said Butler, of working with Howse. "It's definitely an honor."
Flesh-n-Bone Global executive Michael "Tony B." Bernardi said Howse hopes the product can provide relief for any qualified, verified patient. Howes reportedly hopes to expand the sale of Phifty Caliber Kush in the near future past Michigan to other states that support medical marijuana, such as California, Colorado and Washington.
Bernardi told The Flint Journal that Howse has always been an "innovator" and a "trailblazer" and that he is proud to be at the forefront of a "paradigm shift in the culture" involving marijuana.
Michigan voters in 2008 approved the use of marijuana for certain chronic medical reasons. Current laws pertaining to medical marijuana in Michigan allow for the drug to be used as treatment for certain diseases such as glaucoma, cancer, hepatitis C, Parkinson's disease and Crohn's disease.
