MDOT Lifts Traffic Restrictions To Ease Memorial Day Travel
DETROIT (WWJ) - This Memorial Day weekend, the Michigan Department of Transportation is removing lane restrictions on two-thirds of its road projects to ease traffic delays.
And that's good news for travelers, since AAA Michigan estimates 1.1 million motorists will be using Michigan roads and bridges during the annual kick-off to summer – the most since 2007.
Beginning at 3 p.m. Friday and continuing until 6 a.m. Tuesday, 101 of 148 projects statewide will have lane restrictions removed. While construction zones may be closed for the weekend, motorists are advised that equipment and temporary traffic configurations, like minor shifts, may remain in place, requiring motorists to adjust their speed and pay attention.
The following is a list of work zones around metro Detroit that will remain active or have lane restrictions during the long weekend. If necessary, detour routes will be posted at the project location.
