Mayweather, Alvarez Continue Press Tour In Grand Rapids
The anticipation is building for the mega-fight between Eight-Time, Five-Division World Champion Floyd "Money" Mayweather and Super Welterweight World Champion Canelo Alvarez as they officially announce their upcoming bout.
A press conference will be held in Grand Rapids, MI on Wednesday, June 26 to get fans in on the excitement. Fans can begin arriving at the Houseman Field at 162 Houseman Avenue NE at 11:00 a.m. before Mayweather and Alvarez come out at 12:00 p.m. to put the world on notice for the biggest fight of the year.
Mayweather holds a perfect 44-0 record as a pro and is widely considered the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. The 36-year old will face one of his toughest challenges yet from the Alvarez, who has already put together a formidable 42-0-1 record at age 22.
The conference is part of an ambitious media tour spanning 11 cities and two countries in advance of the main event on September 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas; there has not been a promotional tour on this scale since Mayweather and Oscar de la Hoya visited 11 cities before their 2007 showdown.
With the WBA Super Light Middleweight title on the line, this fight has the potential to be an instant classic, and it all starts here.
