Max Scherzer Reflects On His Time With Detroit [AUDIO]

Detroit has had it hard sports-wise in the last couple months.  First, Tigers ace Max Scherzer chose greener pastures and much greener money to go to the Nationals and now the Lions have lost Ndamukong Suh for pretty much the same reason.  When it comes to Detroit stars, they don't get much bigger than Max and Suh and both now are playing elsewhere.

Scherzer, fresh from pitching Tuesday, was at the Nationals spring training facility when he took some time to answer questions.  From what he bought first after signing his blockbuster deal to the reasoning behind his full page ad in the paper thanking Tiger fans, Scherzer touched on it all.

When Scherzer was a free agent, there were so many rumors that fans and media alike really didn't know what to believe.  Was he ever close to returning to Detroit?  While the Missouri native was reluctant to talk about the negations over the offseason he did say, "I was always open to it."

Scherzer did tell other members of the media later in the day that he was surprised that the Tigers made the public aware of their offer. While he wouldn't expand on it, he said 'treading water here…I'll just say yes."

As for if the Tigers so-called "window" is closing, Max wasn't so quick to agree. "I'm not here to comment on if the Tigers can win or not," Scherzer said.  "I do know they're extremely talented, when you have Miguel Cabrera inked in your lineup and you have Victor Martinez in there, as a pitcher you don't want to face them."

Scherzer seems happy in his new surroundings where he is joined by what could very easily be the best starting rotation in baseball and expectations to win it all.

Check out the interview for Scherzer's complete thoughts.
