Matthew Stafford's Intelligence Questioned, Wife And Teammates Come To His Defense
In the wake of Martha Ford firing Martin Mayhew and Tom Lewand, every coach and player's future with the team seems to be in question.
One player with a big target on his back is QB Matthew Stafford.
Ian Rapoport, in a segment of Around The NFL, foreshadowed a questionable future for the Lions franchise QB in Detroit. He reported how new offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter "had to simplify things for Stafford".
Lions backup QB Dan Orlovsky took to his Twitter account to challenge Rapoport's attack on Matthew's ability to understand the offensive scheme.
Lions punter Sam Martin spoke for the team's loyalty to Stafford in a Tweet also sent Thursday night.
Stafford's wife Kelly echoed the statements of Orlovsky mentioning unnamed coaches questioning Matthew's intelligence.
With a score of 38 on the Wonderlic aptitude test, Stafford came in three points higher than Green Bay's QB Aaron Rodgers.
