The Tigers hope to have sole possession of first place by the end of the night before Cleveland comes to town. The Tigers square off with the Rays in a makeup game at Comerica Park. Lefty Phil Coke is on the hill for Detroit, the team is 2-2 so far on this 8 game home stand. Rookie Alex Cobb goes for the Rays and is making just his 4th major league start. Magglio Ordonez has been activated and expected in the lineup tonight.
TSN is reporting that the Red Wings are about to lose assistant coach Paul MacLean. Reportedly he is finishing up a deal to become the next head coach of the Ottawa Senators.
Tonight is game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Vancouver on the road at Boston, the home team is 5-0 so far in this series with the Canucks up 3 games to 2.
