Matt Dery's Daily Update 5-2-11

The Tigers are desperate for a win after dropping 6 in a row and 3 straight in Cleveland over the weekend. Tigers are now 7 ½ back of first place Cleveland as first place Yankees comes to town for 4. The Yankees have won back to back games and 7 of 10 sending Bartolo Colon to the mound who is 0-6 in his last 9 against Detroit. The "Ace" Justin Verlander is on the mound for the Tigers.

The Lions draft is complete and Head Coach Jim Schwartz know the questions have been coming, "why draft more offense" as the team takes Titus Young and Mikel Leshoure a receiver and running back. Schwartz says with the lockout going on it gives the coaching staff a chance to prepare for next season's opponents. The coach says they will focus on Tampa Bay and Kansas City today.

Red Wings are back from the West Coast, they will get a few days off before a key game 3 at the Joe Wednesday night. Detroit trails San Jose 2 games to none.
