Matt Dery's Daily Update 2-15-11

If Michigan State wants to make the NCAA Tournament, tonight would be a huge step in achieving that goal if the Spartans can snag a win at 3rd ranked Ohio State. Buckeyes are 33-1 in their last 34 at home. MSU is just 6-6 in the Big Ten. Tipoff is at 9pm.

Pistons took today off before finishing up the pre All-Star break portion of their schedule tomorrow night against Indiana.

Reports say the Knicks and Nuggets continue to discuss a Carmelo Anthony deal. Reportedly Denver wants 3 starters, Eddy Curry and a first round pick from New York for Melo.

The Red Wings say Brad Stuart will return to the team and play Thursday night against Tampa Bay. Stuart is coming back from a broken jaw.

The Baltimore Sun reports that officials from the University of Maryland did in fact contact Rich Rodriguez during the week of the Gator Bowl to gauge his interest in the head coaching job. The report indicates that they are unsure if Rodriguez ever even spoke to the Terrapin officials.

The Tigers continue workouts down in Lakeland. The team today has brought back Timo Perez. The 35 year old outfielder signed a minor league deal.
