Matt Dery's Daily Update 12-29-10
The NFL has made its decision on Brett Favre and the Jenn Sterger investigation is now closed. The league says it has fined the Vikings QB $50,000 for failing to cooperate with the investigation. Roger Goodell says Favre was not candid in the investigation leading the process to be dragged out longer than the NFL wanted but there was no evidence found that Favre violated any NFL conduct policies. If Favre is healthy enough he could play Sunday against the Lions at Ford Field.
Jim Schwartz has named Shaun Hill his starter at QB. Schwartz is unsure if Calvin Johnson will be able to play, the Pro Bowl wide out missed practice today because of a sprained ankle. Schwartz did say that the team has disciplined Dominic Raiola for his actions Sunday toward a fan in Miami. Raiola did say that he does not regret what he did but admits he stepped over the line a little bit.
Martavious Odoms is back, the Michigan wide out will play Saturday according to Rich Rodriguez as he returns from a broken foot.
It's just another game tonight for Charlie Villanueva. The Pistons forward says he is sticking by his story that Kevin Garnett called him a cancer patient. The two meet up for the first time since the incident back in early November.
Red Wings and Stars do battle in Dallas tonight. Detroit goes for 3 straight win. Stars have beaten the Wings twice this season.
