Math in Summer Sports
Summer provides many opportunities to tie math to activities that kids love, such as sports.
Baseball is full of mathematics, from the addition of box scores, to ratios such as runs batted in and earned run average. Keeping score for a baseball game is like a mini-math exam.
The World Cup is also full of soccer math, from the points that teams need to advance, to the sheer number of countries involved.
While the basketball season is over, kids can still use statistics to debate their top player in the game - whether it is Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant, Boston's Kevin Garnett, or Cleveland's LeBron James.
