A fight at a hockey game? No big deal. A fight breaking out at a CHARITY hockey game between policemen and firemen? Now THAT is something you don't expect to see. It happened on Sunday during the annual New York Police Department charity game against the New York Fire Department at Nassau Coliseum. During the second period, the score was tied, and all of a sudden sticks and helmets went flying and a massive bench-clearing brawl took over the ice. This thing went on and on and the audience was half horrified and half cheering for the fight.
The game did continue after the fight, and the NYPD won 8-5. It was their first win in 5 years. So far neither department or union has been willing to speak about the melee.
