Marathon Oil Refinery In SW Detroit Getting An Upgrade
DETROIT (WWJ) - The Marathon oil refinery in southwest Detroit will be off line for the next two months as part of their $2 billion dollar-plus upgrade. But long-suffering drivers shouldn't feel any gas pains in their wallets.
That's because gas stations and other businesses otherwise supplied by the refinery were given the heads up so they could find alternate suppliers. As a result, industry watchers don't expect the price at the pump to climb.
The work being done will allow the refinery to handle heavy Canadian crude, and during the project refinery employees will handle maintenance projects with no layoffs.
