Marathon Around Pelee Island Ends With Glass Of Wine
PELEE ISLAND (WWJ) - Registration has now started for a unique summer marathon that rewards those who finish the run with a well-deserved glass of wine.
The Pelee Island Winery half-marathon will take place on the popular Canadian island on June 2. Registration, which starts at $80 and increases as the marathon date gets nearer, is limited to 300 people.
After traversing a portion of the island's scenic perimeter on Lake Erie, runners will cross the "finish-wine" at the Pelee Island Winery, where they will be greeted with lunch and a wine tasting.
There is one catch, though -- participants will have to stay on the island the night before, since the ferry doesn't cross early enough to get to the island in time for the run.
