Man's Body Found In Pond Near Aquinas College Dorm
GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ/AP) - Police in Grand Rapids say a man may have died while trying to cross a partly frozen pond on the campus of Aquinas College.
The Grand Rapids Press reports a guard at the school spotted the body floating in the water about 2 p.m. Wednesday. The pond is near Willowbrook dormitory.
Police Capt. Eric Payne said the man, who appeared to be about 30 to 35 years old, may have been trying to walk across the pond and fell in. Ice covered part of the pond Wednesday, while ducks swam in open water in part of it.
Police say there are no known witnesses to the incident, and the college is on break.
Authorities are now awaiting autopsy results to determine what killed the man.
