Man Who Led Police On Chase Faces 13 Charges
LIVONIA (WWJ) - A Farmington Hills man will stand trial on attempted murder and several other charges related to a shooting and police chase in Livonia. John Woods was bound over for trial today on a total of 13 charges.
Police accuse Woods of threatening and shooting a man in the hand after failing to convince him to drop court proceedings for custody of a 3-year-old child.
After the shooting Woods allegedly tried to run over responding police officers and then led police on a chase that ended near Eight Mile and Middlebelt roads.
Woods is jailed on $5 million bond.
The charges include:
3 Counts of Assault with intent to murder
3 Counts of Assault with intent to do great bodily harmless than murder
3 Counts of Assault with a dangerous weapon
1 Witnesses Intimidating-Committing Crime/Threatening to kill or injury
1 Count of Police Officer Fleeing and Eluding 3rd degree
1 Count of Police Officer assaulting/resisting/obstructing causing injury
1 Count of Felony Firearms
1 Count of Commission of a felony with a motor vehicle advisory
Woods will be arraigned next Thursday at Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.
