Man Wanted in Fatal Hit-And-Run Found Dead in Michigan Field
IMLAY CITY (AP) — Police say a man suspected of killing a motorcyclist in a hit-and-run accident was found dead in an eastern Michigan field after apparently taking his own life.
Authorities were looking for Alexander George Waschull, who fled the scene of the fatal Imlay City accident on foot Friday morning.
They found the 47-year-old's body in a nearby field with a self-inflicted gunshot wound about 3 a.m. Saturday after receiving a tip that he was in the area.
Waschull was known to law enforcement and had repeated contacts with police for weapons offenses, domestic violence, disorderly conduct and drunk driving.
Police say loaded weapons were recovered from his Jeep at the scene of the crash, which he was prohibited from possessing under a protection order taken out against him.
