Man Wanted For Child Sex Crimes Arrested At Detroit-Windsor Tunnel
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A 33-year-old man wanted for child sex crimes in Michigan and Wisconsin has been arrested while trying to enter Canada.
The man was arrested Saturday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel after he was refused entry into Canada by the Canada Border Services Agency.
Officials say checks of national databases, along with fingerprints, confirmed man was a positive match to records for possession and transportation of child pornography.
"U.S. Customs and Border Protection routinely collaborates with various law enforcement agencies to reduce criminal activity in the U.S.," John Nowak, Acting CBP Port Director, said in a statement. "Through this type of cross-border cooperation we are better able to enhance security at our mutual border and protect the citizens in our own respective communities."
The man was turned over to agents from Homeland Security Investigations. His name was not released.
