Man Shot, Killed While Visiting Family In Hamtramck

HAMTRAMCK (WWJ) - Police in Hamtramck are investigating a fatal shooting after gunfire rang out at a large public housing complex overnight.

WWJ's Ron Dewey said the shooting happened at Grand Haven Street and Commor, near the Colonel Hamtramck Housing Complex in the area of I-75 and Caniff, sometime during the 12 o'clock hour Tuesday morning.

Relatives say 23-year-old Quintius Parham was visiting with family members when he was gunned down and shot multiple times. His aunt, Melinda Parham, said she couldn't understand why her nephew would be the target of any shooting.

"He's a good person, you know, he wasn't really into nothing. It's just that he had to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, that's all I can say," she said.

Hamtramck Police Chief Max Garbarino said they believe the shooting wasn't random, but did not provide further details. He said officers are continuing to interview witnesses. A suspect has not yet been named.

Quintius Parham leaves behind a 5-year-old daughter.

Michigan State Police are assisting Hamtramck Police in the investigation.
