Man Shot During Drug Deal, Drives Self To Hospital

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Sheriffs' deputies in Oakland County say a Pontiac man was shot several times during a drug deal gone bad.

Police responded to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital on Woodward Ave. for a shooting victim complaint just after noon Sunday. There, investigators found the 22-year-old man, who appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds in the leg, arm, hand and abdomen.

Investigators say the man was shot while buying marijuana in the area of Woodward and South Boulevard. The victim said he drove himself to the hospital and the gunman fled the scene.

Police located the man's vehicle in the hospital parking lot and requested the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Forensic Lab to examine it for evidence.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was last listed in stable condition. An investigation is ongoing.

The gunman has been described as a light-skin, "scruffy" looking black male in his 20's, 6'3," 170 lbs. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakland County Sheriff's Department at 248-858-4911.
