Man Sentenced To 30-90 Years In Death Of Toddler
A Kent County man will spend the next 30 to 90 years in prison for the killing of his ex-girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter.
Forty-year-old Jeffrey Malmberg was sentenced Tuesday in the death of Jozlynn Martinez. A jury convicted Malmberg last month of second-degree murder.
He says he knelt on the girl's chest on Feb. 22 to control her temper tantrum. Malmberg says he then put her body in a plastic bag and dumped it in a trash container. The girl's body hasn't been found. Authorities say it may have been disposed of in the county incinerator.
The girl's mother Consuela Martinez told Kent County Circuit Court Judge Donald Johnston at sentencing that Malmberg had "no compassion in his body to cry or mourn.''
