Man Sentenced In Chase That Ended After Deer Hit
HOWELL (AP) - A man who authorities say led them on a high-speed chase through two Michigan counties that ended after the truck he was driving struck a deer has been sentenced to two years of probation.
Twenty-five-year-old Brandon Packer a told a judge in Livingston County Circuit Court in Howell on Thursday that he "made a very poor decision" and was "embarrassed and ashamed."
WHMI-FM and the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus report the Fowlerville-area man earlier pleaded guilty to charges including fleeing and eluding police and operating a vehicle while impaired.
The Livingston County Sheriff's Department said it chased the truck in December into adjoining Shiawassee County, with speeds exceeding 100 mph. The department said the truck broke down due to damage caused by hitting the deer.
