Man Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On I-75 Near State Border
TOLEDO (WWJ/AP) - A 26-year-old Toledo man was killed in a head-on, wrong-way crash that also injured a Michigan man on I-75 near the state border.
The accident happened around 3:05 a.m. Tuesday on southbound I-75 near mile marker 209 in north Toledo.
Police say Juan Garcia Jr. was driving south on I-75 when his vehicle was struck head-on by a northbound traveling vehicle, which was driven by 41-year-old Adam Tunison of LaSalle, Mich.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene and Tunison was taken to a local hospital, where he was last listed in fair condition.
Police said they weren't sure why or how long Tunison was driving the wrong direction on the freeway.
No charges have been filed. An investigation is ongoing.
