Man In Prison Charged With 1985 Flint Slaying
FLINT (WWJ/AP) - A man convicted of murder serving time in a Michigan prison has been charged in the 1985 slaying of a Flint store clerk.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said in a statement Wednesday that 46-year-old William Hoss faces open murder and felony firearm charges in the shooting death of Darlene Paul on Sept. 8, 1985, at Darlene's Market.
Police found Paul dead from a gunshot wound, and witnesses described the suspect seen running from the market to parked vehicle. Prosecutors say police collected blood samples along a trail to where the car had been and the samples were submitted to a state crime lab.
This January, the lab connected Hoss to the blood evidence based on a DNA test.
Hoss hasn't yet been appointed an attorney. He is currently serving a prison sentence in New Haven.
