Man Guilty Of Murder In Shooting At Lansing Club
LANSING (AP) - A 36-year-old Lansing man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting of a man outside a nightclub one year ago.
An Ingham County Circuit Court jury on Tuesday also convicted Richard Strong on weapons charges in the Nov. 10, 2011, killing of 35-year-old Ygnacio Bermudez Jr. Authorities say Bermudez was shot five times outside the Loft club.
The murder charge carries an automatic sentence of life in prison without parole.
Strong testified in his defense, denying he killed Bermudez and that he fled Lansing after the shooting because he feared Bermudez's family would seek retribution. He took on another name and moved to North Carolina.
