3 Arrested In Fatal Shooting At Pontiac Home
PONTIAC (WWJ) - A Pontiac neighborhood is left rattled after a man was shot and killed inside his home early Monday morning.
The shooting happened at around 3:30 a.m. at a ranch-style house on Inglewood Street off Caesar Chavez, which runs north from the downtown business loop.
Police said a 27-year-old man was killed but family members in the home at the time, including the victim's pregnant wife, 6-month-old child and two brothers, were left unharmed.
Police said one of the suspected gunman was also shot and was taken to the hospital for treatment. It was not immediately clear who shot him. The other alleged shooter attempted to escape in a vehicle, he and the alleged getaway driver were quickly apprehended.
All three suspects were being questioned later Monday.
Police said four dogs were taken from the home.
Nearby residents and friends of the victim, Al Danielson and Felix Almanza, said they are still trying to figure out why their neighbor might have been targeted.
"A couple of guys broke in the house and started shooting," said Danielson.
"I mean, we all grew up on this street so it's hard to believe that it happened," added Almanza. "(He was), you know, a family guy. He had one kid coming on the way and he already had one, and I can't believe it happened especially since we were hanging out with him, you know, last night."
No names have been released.
