Man Fatally Shot At Detroit Gas Station

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit Homicide Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting at a gas station on the city's east side.

Police say the shooting happened at a Marathon Gas Station on Dequindre and East Outer Drive around 2 a.m. Wednesday. They say a man was shot in what appears to have been a robbery.

Sgt. Eren Stephens said a male suspect shot a 49-year-old man who was sitting in a vehicle. The gunman then escaped in a white vehicle in an unknown direction after the shooting, Stephens said.

Witnesses describe the suspect as a black male about 17- to 25-years-old, who is short and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

The victim's identity has not yet been released and police have not named a suspect.
