Man Faces Life In Prison For Fatal Ingham County Hit-And-Run
MASON, Mich. (AP) - A 28-year-old man faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole for a hit-and-run crash in Ingham County.
The Lansing State Journal reports a jury on Wednesday convicted Jordan Dunn of first-degree murder in the death of 42-year-old Ben Berlin in Vevay Township.
Assistant Prosecutor John Dewane told jurors during closing arguments that Dunn slammed on the brakes, drove in reverse and then paused. Dewane says it was in that moment on Oct. 30 that Dunn made the decision to drive the pickup at Berlin.
Dunn's attorney, Vince Green, says Dunn was confronted that night by an angry crowd.
Sentencing is scheduled July 16.
Berlin had a wife and four children. His two sons, including one who is 14 years old, testified as eyewitnesses to the crash.
