Man Reported Missing After Leaving Motor City Casino In Detroit Found Safe

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police say a 52-year-old man who was reported missing after leaving the Motor City Casino has been found safe.

Detroit police said Wednesday night that Kevin Cannon was found safe, but they provided no additional details on his recovery.

Earlier Wednesday, police asked for help locating Cannon, saying he was last heard from around 7 p.m. on January 1 and was last known to be at the Motor City Casino along Grand River Avenue, near the Lodge Freeway. His whereabouts from there were unknown.

Cannon's girlfriend, Irene Colvin, said everything was normal on the day he went missing.

"The last time I saw him was on New Year's Day. He left here about 8 or 9, going down to the casino," Colvin told WWJ's Terri Lee. "His friend called him and told him he was down there and he wanted to meet him."

Colvin said Cannon loved going to the casino -- he was there every day -- but something happened during this particular trip.

"He told me if I need him, call him. And then he called me back about 10:30 and told me he had got into it with a man, a white man, and he was with the guards at the Motor City," she said.

And that was the last Colvin heard from Cannon.

"I don't know if they've got him locked up, I don't know where he at," she said, adding that employees at the casino were of no help. "They don't have no record or nothing. I called and they said they couldn't give me no information."

Police said the case was considered as a voluntary missing person.
