Man Dies After Multi-Vehicle Crash
GENOA TWP. (WWJ) - Michigan State Police say one man is dead and another critically injured after a multi-vehicle crash in Livingston County.
Edward Sessions, a 56-year-old resident of Webberville, died Friday morning following an accident on Grand River Avenue, west of Dorr Road, in Genoa Township.
Police say the whole thing started around 8:33 a.m., when a black car traveling eastbound in the right lane on Grand River signaled to make a left lane change. The black vehicle began to make the left lane change and failed to yield to a silver Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by William Sessions, age 59 of Fowlerville, who was in the left lane.
William Sessions attempted to avoid the black vehicle by going to the right, when he struck a green Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by Kathy Durfee, age 54 of Howell. That's when William Sessions lost control of his vehicle, according to police, traveled to the left and was struck by a black Ford Mustang, driven by Cori Carson, age 17 of Howell.
Police say William Sessions continued left and crossed into the westbound lanes of Grand River where his vehicle was struck by a gray GMC Sierra pickup truck, driven by Brian Nault, age 37 of Brighton.
Edward Sessions, who was the front seat passenger in his brother's car, was fatally injured during the crash. William Sessions was transported to University of Michigan Hospital, and was last listed in critical condition.
Durfee did not sustain any injuries. Nault and Carson were not seriously injured and sought their own medical treatment.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Livingston County EMS and the Brighton Area Fire Department.
An investigation is ongoing. It is not clear if alcohol or the snowy weather were factors in the crash.
